Security Officer Job Description

A security officer is responsible for proactively engaging with persons in a respectable manner to monitor levels of intoxication and anticipate potential problematic behaviour. Security Officers will be responsible for completing proper documentation related to incident and misconduct reports whilst ensuring to maintain compliance in line with the use of force continuum. This role requires a high expectation of demonstrating excellent customer service and conflict management skills.

Security Officers MUST have completed a NSW recognised Certificate II in Security Operations course and hold a valid 1/AC Security Licence, including a current First Aid Certificate.

Further, the Security Officer MUST hold a NSW Interim Certificate (following the completion of an approved NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol course) OR current NSW RSA Competency Card, as issued by Liquor and Gaming NSW.

It is essential that applicants:

  • have a current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol Competency Card / NSW Interim Certificate
  • have a current Security Licence Class 1A
  • have a current First Aid Certificate
  • complete relevant COVID Marshal training as prescribed by NSW Health and Holistic Industries
  • have a current Driver's Licence and Reliable Transport
  • have knowledge and experience in the hospitality industry.

The successful candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • Good physical presence
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to maintain resilience within a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent (verbal and written) communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently
  • Flexibility in work hours and availability.
